What a Malabar Salkaram Dinner Actually Looks Like

July 18, 2026

"Salkaram" is the Malabar tradition of hospitality expressed through food - a spread of local dishes served together rather than course by course, usually eaten with your hands off a banana leaf.

On our multi-day Wayanad packages we arrange one of these dinners through a local home kitchen, so the meal is cooked to order rather than plated ahead of time.
