Tucked into Malappuram district, the Nilambur teak plantations were first planted in the 1840s, making them among the oldest planned teak forests anywhere. A small museum on site walks through the history.
It pairs well with a short drive up to the cooler viewpoints around Mini Ooty, especially as a half-day add-on to a longer Wayanad itinerary.
